How
Drug Works
This medicine works on pain by working on opioid centers
and it also increases two chemicals (norephinephrine
and serotonin).
How
Taken
It is important to follow your prescription directions
carefully and you should not take alcohol with this
medication. Adult doses are between 50 and 100 milligrams
every 6 hours.
Possible
Side Effects
This medicine is generally well-tolerated. constipation
nausea and vomiting dry mouth drowsiness and dizziness
(increased with alcohol)
Warnings/Precautions
This medicine should be used with caution by patients
with: chronic respiratory disorders liver disease or
low thyroid function Those with a history of drug dependency
should use this drug with caution.
Overdose
For emergencies, seek medical attention immediately.
For non emergencies, contact your local or regional
poison control center.
Drug
Interactions
Possible drug interactions may occur with other sedating
medications, pain medications, monoamine oxidase inhibitors,
psychiatric medication, or medications that alter liver
function. Ask your physician or pharmacist if you are
taking these drugs together.
Missed
Dose
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is
time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go
back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage
Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat
and moisture (not in the bathroom). Keep this medication
in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out
of reach of children. Throw away any medication that
is outdated or no longer needed.
Pregnancy/Nursing
If you suspect that you may be pregnant, talk to you
doctor. This medicine is not recommended for women during
pregnancy or for use by nursing mothers.
