Nasonex is used to treat and prevent nasal symptoms
due to allergies.
General

How
Drug Works
This medicine works by reducing inflammation (swelling)
in the nasal passages.
How
Taken
Shake well before each use. Prime the spray pump before
first use. Spray into nostril as directed. instructed
by your pharmacist. Use as directed, generally two sprays
in each nostril daily. Do not use this drug more often
or longer than prescribed. Use this drug regularly during
the prescribed treatment period for full benefit. If
the drug is used for seasonal allergy, therapy is best
started 2-4 weeks before the season. Improvement in
symptoms occurs generally within 2 days and full benefit
occurs after 1-2 weeks of use.
Possible
Side Effects
Some common side effects reported with this medicine
include: dryness of the nose headache sore throat See
a doctor immediately if you experience: nose bleeds
weakness weight loss vision changes. This medicine may
cause: burning itching or redness not caused by your
condition. If you experience other bothersome side effects,
contact your health care provider.
Warnings/Precautions
Do NOT use this medicine longer than prescribed. This
medicine is for the skin only. Do NOT use in or around
the eyes. If your skin conditions Do NOT improve within
several days, talk to your doctor or nurse. Talk to
your doctor before using this medicine if you have a
history of infections, glaucoma or cataracts. Avoid
people with chickenpox while taking any corticosteroids.
Caution is advised with the prolonged use of this medicine
in children.
Overdose
For emergencies, seek medical attention immediately.
For non emergencies, contact your local or regional
poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
Drug
Interactions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist when taking any new
prescription or over-the-counter medicine. There are
no significant interactions with this medicine. Before
starting any new medication, talk to your doctor or
pharmacist about possible drug interactions.
Missed
Dose
Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is
time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go
back to your regular schedule. Do not double doses.
Storage
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly
closed, and out of reach of children. Throw away any
medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Store
it at room temperature and away from excess heat and
moisture (not in the bathroom).
Pregnancy/Nursing
Talk to your doctor or pediatrician before using this
medicine while nursing. Use during pregnancy should
only occur if the potential benefits outweigh the possible
risk to the fetus.
